OUTART

Youth learning path through rehabilitative outsider art-photo

About

OUTART is a project based on the idea of using Outsider Art photography as a way to empower disadvantaged or disabled young people. Outsider Art breaks boundaries set by formal education or training and encourages personal freedom of expression. Photography is a way for you to dream and gives you the opportunity to develop personal strengths through a creative experience. Art is another form of language and way of communicating which increases the possibilities and methods of self-expression. Art can be therapeutic and enhance your physical mental and emotional well-being by promoting self-reflection, expression and exploration. Non-formal education through art works towards both gaining photography skills and in reducing social inequality through active citizenship and opening communication possibilities.

Special thanks to Jane Carter for her collaboration in the OUTART project.
